Asia CanTech 2024 Award winners announced

The 2024 edition of the Asia CanTech Awards was announced on 22 October at the Sheraton Saigon Hotel & Towers in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
The evening saw Siam Weizen beer pick up two awards, alongside many worthy category winners.
Beverage two-piece – winner
Crown Bevcan and Closures Thailand, Siam Weizen beer
This passionfruit flavoured wheat beer features a traditional Thai design and a sophisticated matt varnish to give consumers a tactile experience when holding the can.
Decorative/speciality – winner
Canpack, Piyaau natural mineral water
The enhanced printing effects on this can caught the judges’ eyes, as did the fact that this mineral water is the first of its kind to be packaged in aluminium.
Food two-piece – winner
ORG Bowl, can
This laminated steel can is made using the draw-redraw process, and the can we have here on display for the winner showcases a guilded shan shui, which is a style of traditional Chinese painting, incorporating natural landscapes.
Beverage limited edition – winner
Can Asia, San Miguel Pale Pilsen
This 330ml can captures the essence of a Filipino phrase which translates to ‘What to do?’, illustrating a variety of entertaining activities to engage in when bored.
Ends/caps/closures – winner
Worunda Metal Packaging, Aerosol cone
This product can withstand temperatures of up to 100 degrees celcius and is suitable for many products in the personal care, home cleaning and industrial industries, as well as for high-quality printing processes.
Food three-piece – winner
Hindustan Tin Works, Cremica cookie cans
These tins offer better quality printing through new decorative finishes, which will ensure consumers reuse or repurpose the tins at home.
General line – winner
TinPak, Super Matt Enamel paint can
According to the judges, this welded can with a lever lid illustrates its purpose in a simple and sophisticated way.
Innovation – winner
BNM, Peel-off end with straw function
This peel-off end features a membrane that consumers can ‘pop’ or pierce with a straw to stir or sip the product inside the rest of the packaging.
Design concept – winner
Isimat, Koi can
The winning can’s design integrates the company’s patented inLine Foiling and silkscreen printing within a single machine, utilising polychromatic and holographic effects, suitable for use in aerosol cans and the beverage industry.
